Introduction
Our Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) offers you a dedicated and industry-wide program to build a strong foundation with core IT skills that you can expand your career options and apply to multiple industries and technologies anywhere in the world.
This course will equip you with specialist skills for a changing world that will ensure you are ready for different workplace scenarios. More importantly, you can choose your learning pathways based on your interests and talents, while developing in-depth knowledge in a specialised area of your choosing, such as ICT Security and Information Systems.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of theoretical concepts, frameworks, principles and technical knowledge in the chosen major area.
- Communicate effectively in written and oral presentations to diverse audiences, including complex concepts and innovative ideas.
- Apply critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical skills, techniques and tools to analyse complex problems, handle abstraction, and design, implement and evaluate solutions in an ICT professional context.
- Recognise the importance of ethics, codes of professional conduct and cultural sensitivity, and assess societal, privacy, security and legal issues within the ICT industry.
- Work collaboratively and effectively within a team to achieve a common goal, possibly with diverse and interdisciplinary team members.
- Build independent work ability and self-reliant life-long learning to keep abreast with the forefront of the developments in the area of the chosen major and their implications for business and social environments.
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Information Technology are required to complete 24 units of study (comprising 8 core units, 10 major units, & 6 elective units) within a typical study period of 3 years or six academic semesters.
EIA’s Bachelor of Information Technology offers students the option to choose either or both of the following two majors:

EIA recognises applicants’ prior relevant study or experiences through study credits*. These experiences may be formal or informal. Where applicants can demonstrate achievement of a unit of study EIA’s learning outcomes may grant specified, unspecified or block credits or study exemptions.
Upon completion of your Diploma of IT you may have access to EIA’s Bachelor of IT. In some cases you may receive credit for your previous study, reducing the time it takes to complete your course.
